Templating

DETAILED SPECIFICATION

Templating is the point where the fabricator makes the detailed specification of what they are making. It is the most important customer interaction and it is essential that all preparation work is completed to a high standard and that key decision makers are available to the templator to discuss critical details.

There are several templating styles. Physical templating with board or plastic sheet is ideal where the pieces are going to be worked using manual saws and allow a clear representation of what is going to be made. Digital templating is ideal where you have a CNC controlled saw and fabrication workshop. Your fabricator will determine the most appropriate templating method.

DIGITAL LASER TEMPLATING

Our highly skilled members, craftsmen and team of professionals will measure & laser template your surfaces, prior to installation. Accurately replicating all of your requirements, including dimensions, cut-outs, joints and design features.

Our craftsmen use these digital laser templates in their workshops to manufacture your Worktops and Surfaces. They use the latest state-of-the-art technology, ensuring a perfect fit is achieved on-site.

THE PROCESS

To take a digital laser template our members set up the tripod, attach the laser to it, level it with a bubble on top, start the software and take the readings. Typically, this process usually takes a couple of hours to complete.

The 3D element of this cutting edge technology means the work surfaces can be shown from any point in the room, which customers and designers love. It also adds weight to any arguments about alterations after the templates have been taken.

Whilst on-site, the templates can be emailed back to the factory and work on the project(s) can start immediately. With just a few clicks of the mouse, the adjustments that architects and designers require can be made.

TIME SAVING TECHNOLOGY

Our members fabricate numerous domestic and commercial kitchens and bathrooms per day. Digital laser templating is an essential part of their business and operations. The technology is so precise and saves hours on time, travel and expenses.

SEE FOR YOURSELF

Most WFF members use laser templating devices and can use the enhanced data these systems provide to determine likely seam locations as well as add splashbacks, waterfall edges, corners, curves and drop-ins.
