The day is focussed on cutting and handling ceramic style materials and will include practical demonstration on a new Breton saw and CNC, plus various grinders etc. There will also be an opportunity to look at a Dal Prete water wall. We plan to have a H&S seminar as part of the day, and this will inevitably expand beyond Ceramics to include the higher RCS products as well, as fabricators typically only have one production facility with a blend of products flowing through.

We have a special focus on airborne dust for this meeting: 

• Natalie Tinsley (who leads on stone and glass dust for the HSE) will bring us up to speed on the learnings from last Autumn’s enforcement campaign.

• Simon  Bradbury from Stone Industry Group will be demonstrating real-time air monitoring.

• There’ll be a series of rolling break-out masterclass sessions on Local Exhaust Ventilation for those Members who want to opt in.

• And Granite Tops’ H&S advisor will be on hand throughout the day, to discuss Members’ more general H&S concerns.

After an excellent curry lunch, we’ll have the opportunity to see the kit and the procedures in practice in the factory area.

This is a follow-on from the brainstorming meetings at Leamington and Warrington, about tapping into the new T-Levels scheme for 16-19 year olds as a potential way to address machine-minder skills shortages.

This free webinar for WFF Members will be led by Anna Sutton, who is working with the DfE on industry engagement.  Anna will be able to take us on from the preliminary scene-setting and hopefully get WFF Members and Sponsors to the point where our questions have been answered sufficiently to start linking employers up with local FE colleges who are delivering the programme near you.
